I have been deeply touched by the depth and breadth of your responses to my Director’s Reflections last month. I appreciate your compassion and your prayers and all your good wishes. You are the wind beneath my wings and my spirits are soaring.
Here’s what’s happened since I wrote last month. I’m not a candidate for a thermal ablation because of the location of the tumor in my lung. It is very close to both the diaphragm and the spinal cord and both could get burned from the heat of a thermal ablation. The doctor recommends major surgery — large incision, cutting out part of my ribs to get to the lungs, and “scooping it out.” This would require a week in the hospital and 10 weeks recovery time.
I’ve taken time to think about this, meditate, and get in touch with my intuition. Because the tumor in my lung is very slow growing, and the growth has actually slowed down in the past year, I’m not in a hurry to subject my body to an invasive surgery.
I learned that Kelly Ann Turner did her PhD thesis last year on Spontaneous Remission of Cancer. She found that there are six “treatments” that may elicit spontaneous remissions. They are: (1) deepening one’s spirituality; (2) trusting in intuition regarding health decisions; (3) releasing negative and/or repressed emotions; (4) feeling love/joy/happiness; (5) changing one’s diet; and (6) taking herbal/vitamin supplements.
Already practicing #2, my intuition is that this is an opportunity for me to employ the six “treatments.” I put “treatments” in quotes because I think of a treatment as something someone does to me, and these are all inside jobs. They are all things I have to do for myself, that will improve my life whether they affect my tumor or not. So why not focus on these for six months? Then I’ll have another scan to see what the tumor is doing (if it’s still there).
As I’m working on these six “treatments,” I am going to write a weekly blog to let you know what I’m doing, what the challenges are, and what the gifts are. The blog will start in March so watch the March eNewsletter for information.
Some of you have asked what I have done to slow down the growth of the tumor in the past year, and I think it has been mostly diet and supplements (#5 and #6). I have been fortunate to be immersed in the Cancer-Fighting Kitchen workshop that Healing Journeys has been offering. The information is empowering and I have made many changes in my diet. I have also been working with Jeanne Wallace’s office, having recommended blood tests, and taking supplements she has recommended based on my test results. I will share more details in future blog posts.
Last week I went to Cabo San Lucas for a wonderful vacation with my friend, Patty, where I activated #1 and #4. Wonder if my health insurance will pay for this “treatment.”
Thank you for your prayers and good wishes. I feel so blessed to be able to share my healing journey with you. It feels like an answer to my prayer to “make me an instrument.”
Please leave a reply, or read comments left by others. Thank you!

Thank you so much for sharing your ride with the rest of us. I look forward to reading your blog. You are an inspiration to me and I’m absolutely sure to many others.

Jan,
My cancer diagnosis in ’07 was a ‘faith walk’ – one that I wouldn’t trade for anything. After experiencing a Turning Point conference I now refer to my diagnosis as “when my healing journey began”! What an inspiration you are to me!! I will continue praying for and with you!
Be blessed and continue to be a blessing,
In the spirit of healing,
Betsy Woodward – SC
Dear Jan,
You are an inspiration, and such a beautiful model for choosing love, and light, and joy.
I love the six “treatments”. They seem like they would benefit ALL OF US… “WHY WAIT?” I ask myself.
Thank you! Thank you! THANK YOU!!!
Love and blessings,
Amara
Jan, you are truly generous to share this journey with us. My intuition says you are doing absolutely the right thing and you will be a winner. Blessings
Jan,
Sounds like you are in a good place to deal with this new challenge. I love the idea of waiting and doing the six treatments for remission.
Please let me know if there is any way I can help you through this…you name it!

Brava, brava, Jan! Your inspiration and faith are infectious — may we all follow your 6 steps of treatment. With deep gratitude for what you do and the healing steps you live and share.
Dear Jan, I am simply in awe of your attitude as you meet your newest challenge. You are truly a beacon of hope to those with advanced cancer (and primary too). I am looking forward to your presenting at Save Ourselves on March 21st… I have no doubt that you will succeed in dissolving this tumor. I imagine little fairy angels swooping in and carrying it out in small little pieces with each breath you exhale. With healing spirit and light, Cass
Dear Jan, At the Younville Community Center a few years ago I bought a copy of “The Cancer-Fighting Kitchen” which I recently gave to a younger woman friend, Joanne. During an emergency appendectomy, they found she had a large malignant tumor on one kidney. While recovering from the first surgery in order to prepare for the kidney removal, she did several visualizations. The one I remember is that she imagined wrapping the kidney in white gauze, layer after layer, to seclude it. Her surgeon said that it was actually wrapped in layer after layer of thin white tissue! Would you like me to send her your contact info.
Jan,
Thanks for sharing your update, and future ones on your blog. You continue to be an inspiration for me, you amazing woman!!! And I know you are helping countless others as well.
(((BIG healing HUGS to you)))
Love,
~ Julie
Dear Jan,
Wishing you all the best and keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. What a blessing you have been to me and so many others. Keep us posted.
Sisters always,
Diane Tapay
My dear dear friend, Jan,
Thank you so much for sharing your healing with me and others. What I have come to know in my soul is that whatever I see outside of my self is coming from inside myself. It is my soul calling for healing with love inside and out. All is innocent. It starts there with love and allowing. It is all good…even when it doesn’t look like it or feel like it when we look for the good.
I know you know all of this. I support you with my love and healing thoughts. There is no lack…only in your thoughts. Keep strong, my friend.
Peace and joy,
Avanell Kirchman
Thank you for sharing your depth and your process. You are not only an inspiration, but your experiences are helping so many others…you are giving so much at a time when many could not give. Thank you.
I know you will be blessed on your journey. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and experience with us.
I am touched by your journey and look forward to your blog. I would not be here or on my own journey had it not been for Cancer as a Turning Point vol. 1&2…. I am eternally grateful! Sending love, healing & light your way. 🙂
Love, light, joy and peace to you on your journey. I look forward to reading your blog and hearing that your tumor has disappeared completely.
I BElIEVE anything and everything is possible.
Prayer is so very powerful as well and I envision a beautiful angel sitting on your shoulder.
God Bless
Jan, I am totally inspired by you! When I had (ovarian) cancer thirteen years ago I did all the things you mentioned. I did not have a ‘spontaneous remission’ but I feel I ‘raised my vibration’ by being willing to try so many ‘alternative modalities.’ When the time is right I’d also recommend an Ayurvedic panchakarma or at least a consultation with someone like John Douillard (lifespa.com). Looking forward to hearing about your progress. love and peace, ann
Dear Jan, I will certainly hold you in my prayers. The “six treatments” ring true for me and hopefully will for you, too. I’ve used the Cancer-Fighting Cookbook and video of the workshop as a guide since diagnosed in 2009 and stay current with your newsletter. You’ve given us all a wonderful gift with Healing Journeys. Your turn to receive.
Blessings, Karen
Jan, love and prayers- I know for a fact as a survivor that when we share joy and happiness we give two of the most powerful healing medicines in the world- this you have done- over and over.
Hi Jan,
I’m so glad that my research findings are proving useful for you during this challenging time, and I’ve really enjoyed receiving the Healing Journey newsletters each month. My research is continuing, and my book and website on “Unexpected Remission” (more apt than “spontaneous”) will be coming out soon. I’ll be in the Bay Area March 30th & 31st giving some lectures; it would be great to meet you in person when I’m there.
Best,
Kelly Turner, PhD
Dear Jan, You’re in my prayers also, and I honor you for your work as well. Rebecca and Jeanne’s publications led me to the Healing Journey’s workshop in Seattle. It was inspiring and uplifting, and I’ve taken the information and distributed it. I’ve purchased many of Rebecca’s books to give away, made tons of magic mineral broth, and put people in touch with Jeanne Wallace. Thank you for the gift of Healing Journeys. It has made a huge difference in many many people’s lives.
I have printed out Kelly Ann Turner’s 6 “treatments” and have them posted around my house. Grateful that you have shared them with us Jan! Thank you for sharing yourself and your journey with us! Looking forward to more… Warm hugs & prayers, Terri
Spiritual healing is so powerful…and an essential variable to healing. I have gazed with Braco and I have studied the teachings of Bruno Groening…both of whom have produced amazing, medically documented healings, but neither claimed to be healers..or conduits to offer God’s healing and divine energy. I highly encourage everyone who has a physical challenge to read about Braco and Bruno Groening. God is the master physician and in his world there is no incurable disease or condition.
Dear Jan,
You have helped so many of us through our journeys and now it is your turn to draw energy and strength from us as you travel on your newest journey.
I will keep you in my positive thoughts and prayers.
Kathy
Jan,
I hold you in my prayers. This month my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and she is making her decision regarding treatment as well. I really appreciate your courage in sharing your healing journey. If you don’t object I will share this with our 4-T class to hold you in our group prayer.
Blessings
Charles Grix
Jan, I attended one of the weekends that was held in Greenville, SC. What a blessing it was. You have given so much to so many. Thank you. I am very touched by your story and want you to know that I send healing energy to you as you are involved in your healing process. I admire your courage and trust to follow your intuition. What a lesson for all of us.
Peace, Joy and Healing to you,
Jacque
Jan, my intuition is in line with yours; I think you’re making exactly the right decisions. I think the 6 “treatments” are right on target. I would add two more, just for good measure: visualizing the tumor returning to healthy tissue (which already seems to be happening), and using bioenergy techniques such as Reiki to help bring your body back into balance and increase your own life force energy. I’ll be looking forward to your monthly posts. Blessings, Jenny
All of this seems so right to me.
Keep on trusting what you can do, the inside job.
I look forward to a weekly blog. Great idea. You have much to share and you keep learning more which you can pass on promptly through the blog.
as always Jan – healing wishes and thank you for sharing the journey. I am supporting a friend with advanced lung cancer near the esophogas so am following your journey with great care.
Jan, You have always been a portal for those of us thriving along side of you and follow you into the depths of cancer care and all it’s faucets. I’ve printed off your 6 “treatments” to be my affirmation for healing. Thank you for sharing and I look forward to your blog…Sue Yeoman, Ashland, Oregon
Jan,
I’m holding you in my thoughts and prayers. I’m one year out from my third diagnosis and heading to Ottawa to become certified as a professional cancer coach.
All love and healing to you and thank you for willingness to help others through your exposure.
Hi Jan, We All appreciate you and what you “Stand For”. Thank you for sharing your current experience with all of us. Re: the “spontaneous remission”
I want to add a # 7…..”Thoughts that we hold on to”.
Today while doing my daily lesson in “A Course In Miracles” studies, I was touched by lesson 53 # 15…”My thoughts are images that I have made.” “Whatever I see reflects my thoughts. It is my thoughts that tell me where I am and what I am. The fact that I see a world in which there is suffering and loss and death shows me that I am seeing only the representation of my insane thoughts, and am not allowing my real thoughts to cast their beneficent light on what I see. Yet God’s way is sure. The images I have made cannot prevail against Him because it is not my will that they do so. My will is His, and I will place no other gods before Him.”…..Now.. if One is more comfortable the “g” word can be changed to “Source…or whatever feels Right”…also the “gods” can be “ego” in all its’ many disguises…
I am so happy to be able to take some time & write to you today !!! My Ordination in “A Course in Miracles” is this Sunday 2/26. I Hold You, Jan, in the Beautiful Light which You Are !!!
With Loving, Peaceful, Healing, & Light-Filled Thoughts,
Your Friend & Sister, Marilyn
Hi Jan,
My most positive thoughts go out to you. May you continue practicing these “best practices” as we call them in education. Please know that my prayers and Unity’s are with you.
Thank you for all you do for yourself by taking this time and for us in all of what your life has given us and means to us.
Love always,
Elsa
Jan,
You continue to inspire me as I go through my own recurrence of uterine cancer. I also practice Jeanne Wallace’s teachings. More Kale!!
Linda
Jan, This is powerful. And to all of you out there reading this, I want to say I am experiencing this first hand. I’ve accompanied Jan to many doctor consultations and this is the truth, HER real truth, and she is unflinchingly living it. All that is left to say is “GO JAN”; you are meeting this challenge and are negotiating – something you are expert at. I have no doubt you will arrive at your ultimate goal! Su amiga, Carol
Sounds like you are following your heart, your feelings to move towards survival. We all wish you the very best – reduction of the tumor’s size until it disappears. Keep up your exemplary survival behaviors. And, enjoy life along your path every day. Blessings to you!
Jan, you have been a powerful inspiration for me since we first crossed paths over 8 years ago when I attended my first Cancer as a Turning Point conference in Greenville. You treat us like close friends and family, sharing your challenges, struggles, and celebrations. I love that you have chosen the 6 “treatments” !! Looking forward to keeping up on your progress.
Way to go.God Bless
Jan, I am saying a metta for you:
May you be at peace,
May your heart remain open,
May you awaken to the light of your own true nature,
May you be healed,
May you be a source of healing for all beings.
Blessings to you on your walk of healing, Linda
Dear Jan, I am adding distant visualization to what I will be doing, regarding that soon to be disappearing tumor of yours… I just have a very good feeling you are going to be OK for years to come…. I believe with all my heart the nutrition is, and will continue to benefit you. Keeping you in my prayers, Cheryl
Sounds like a good plan to me. You’ll not go wrong taking good care of yourself and leaving yourself open to all healing.
Dear Jan, I too, try to always tune in to my deep intuitive self before making any major decisions & when I do, I usually don’t go wrong…in fact I don’t remember a time when I DID go wrong if I really listened to my inner wisdom first! So take good care of yourself, as you’re doing…with the very best wishes to you. Will be reading your weekly blog! BIG HUG!!!
Blessings Jan, there is no doubt that the six treatments will be healing and a return to health. How could it not be so? I am powering up the six with you! Watch out cause here they come!! Much love, Suzanne
Jan, you are a truly amazing inspiration! Thank you for sharing YOUR healing journey with the rest of us. May your intuition continue to guide you along your way. Blessings and hugs, Teresa Grandon-Garcia
Dear Jan,
Thinking of you with love, always. I know you will do the best for you and I support what that is. Lots of love and prayers, Pam
Jan,
You are such an inspiration! I know about your journey and what you have endured. I’ve had breast cancer twice and have been coming to healing journeys for many years now. You have helped so many to keep hope alive.
I admire your spirit and positive energy and pray that you will continue to thrive.
I know if anyone can it’s YOU!!
Love, Ellen
I first went to your Healing Journeys in September 2006 on the recommendation of a psychologist that I had gone to. My diagnosis had come on the same day as a man walked out of my life. I needed help! Ever since that day in September, I have felt not alone, inspired to do what I needed to do to get better. I smile every time I think of you as you are so loving, caring about all of us who have met you. I am doing so well and have actually missed coming to your recent conferences because I have been busy climbing the Alps and other mountains, being as happy as can be and living your six “treatments.”
I wish you the best, it is all yours.
In wondrous health and love,
Karen
Jan, I have no doubt that you will spontaneously heal. I agree wholeheartedly with the six “treatments” as I used those six actively in my own non-intervention healing. I would just add one more–gazing on luminous nature visions. Hope our visual work may support you in this time. Please feel our confident blessings and clear picture of your recovery added to all the good will coming your way. Much love, Bonnie and David
May you feel God’s blessings and the love of many friends and strangers! Thanks for sharing with us! I have met you over the years at Healing Journey’s workshops and you bless my life every day…even thought you don’t know it! Peace……………
I am a huge believer in the power of prayer, so I am praying for the continued slowing of tumor growth, eventual stopping of it, and complete disappearance of your tumor by your next scan. I have seen what prayer and belief in God can do. It’s number 1 position is merited. And it can enhance the effectiveness of the other 5. Since we are commanded to take care of our bodies, the other 5 fall right into line. Jan, may you be blessed during this time and afterward.
Sarah MacKenzie
Dear Jan,
Thanks so much for keeping us up to date on your healing. I know that the path you are taking is the one that you feel is the best for you.
I am sending you much love and joy; you light up so many lives with your work, and that light continues to grow inside of you.
Love,
Karen (and Robin, I am sure)
