In the beginning of a new year I feel inspired to think about what healing or anti-cancer strategies I want to utilize, and what I want to improve in my life in general. I’ve signed up for some classes, both in person and online. In this eNewsletter I want to let you know about a few good options I’m aware of in case you have the same urge to put some attention on healing and self-improvement.
All of the people offering these resources have done workshops for Healing Journeys, have been speakers at our Cancer as a Turning Point, From Surviving to Thriving™ conferences, and have been part of my personal healing journey. Links to all of these offerings are at the bottom.
I am taking the online version of Dr. Kelly Turner’s Radical Remission course. I took the course live in 2015 and want to experience it again as a refresher. My strategies for healing are based on the 9 factors that she discovered all Radical Remission survivors had in common, and that she wrote about in her best-selling book, Radical Remission. I’ve been writing about my journey with this healing approach in my blog for the past 5 years. When I started, it was based on her dissertation which discussed only 6 strategies. In the book, published in 2014, there are 9. In the online course there are 9 modules, one for each strategy.
An incredible online resource was co-created by the respected duo, integrative health publisher Karolyn A. Gazella, and Dr. Lise Alschuler, a naturopathic doctor with board certification in naturopathic oncology. Gazella and Alschuler, both cancer survivors, have been working for two years on the iTHRIVE Plan with a goal to transform cancer survivorship in this country and beyond! They walked me through the self-assessment as well as how they create a personalized plan and help people achieve their goals and reduce their cancer risk. Some cancer centers are providing it as a complementary service for their patients, and anyone can now easily access personalized wellness plans using the online iTHRIVE Plan. I hope you will check out this powerful online resource, whether you currently have cancer or not.
Jean Shinoda Bolen, MD, prolific author, and one of the inspirations for my starting Healing Journeys, is offering another online course. This newsletter announces the free introduction, a mini-workshop on Goddesses in Every Woman (After 50): Discover Your New Archetypes At this Stage of Life & Liberate Your Authentic Self. The free introductory call is scheduled for Wednesday, January 25, 2017.
I’m excited to tell you about these opportunities because they are available to everyone, no matter where you live. I think because these kinds of resources are available online, the need for our Cancer as a Turning Point conference is not as great as it used to be. We will be offering mini-conferences again in 2017, as well as workshops and/or retreats. More about that next month.
My wish for you in 2017 is that your days feel precious and full of potential, and that your heart is full of gratitude. I usually don’t make resolutions, but I have identified gratitude as the feeling I want to focus on in 2017. It seems to cover everything. When I am grateful, I am also more likely to feel peace, joy, and love.
As always, I welcome your comments; to reply please click here.

Peaceful New Year, Jan:
I just got an email from Dr. Kelly Turner about research she was invited to participate in with Stanford.
Also, I would like to be involved as an interfaith minister for your 2017 mini workshops, especially those in Sacramento region.
Blessings,
Maureen White

Just know this Gratitude is a “Big Part” of everyday for me.
Hurray for gratitude. I am grateful for the feeling of it. A dear friend of over 40 years died last fall at the age of 95. Natalie told me, “You know I am into conscious dying!” Yes, I did know. I asked her, “What does that look like?” Immediately she shot up her arms and shouted, “Gratitude, gratitude, gratitude!” Whether it is conscious living or conscious dying, gratitude was her key. She remained aware and grateful until her final easy breath.
