My prayer has always been, “Lord, make me an instrument.” I want to use my gifts and talents in a way that benefits others. Healing Journeys has been an avenue for my prayer to be answered for the past 30 years. Thousands of people have benefitted from our Cancer as a Turning Point™ conferences, and it has been an incredibly satisfying career for me.
For two years during the pandemic, when we weren’t going anywhere, I wrote stories from my life as a healing exercise. What resulted was my memoir, Coloring Outside the Lines: Surviving and Thriving with Cancer for 30+ Years, published in August.
Based on the responses I’ve received, it feels like my memoir is also an answer to my prayer. I appreciate those of you that have taken the time to write to me after reading it and given me such positive feedback.

I just finished reading your memoir. I couldn’t put it down. It’s so inspiring and as my metastatic breast cancer continues to march on, I could relate to so much of your story. I appreciated the hope and grace you demonstrate throughout your life. Thank you for writing this book.
People have said it was inspiring whether or not they had cancer. It has been beneficial in dealing with whatever washes up on their beach. You can read more about the book or order it here.
So, I have another project to accomplish through Healing Journeys. I am focusing my energy on making this book available to a wider audience of people who need hope and inspiration.
There are several ways you can help:
- After you have read the book, please write a review at any of the online places where books can be ordered. It is available through any book outlet.
- We are planning a giveaway project. We will send a free copy of Coloring Outside the Lines, along with The Story You Need to Tell, by Sandra Marinella, to any organization that has a library for cancer patients.
- You can support this project by making a donation (tax-deductible). Any contribution that comes to Healing Journeys during the remainder of 2023 will be applied to cover the expenses of sending these books free. Thank you in advance for your support.
