Director's Reflections — What We're Doing by Jan Adrian, MSW |
Dear Friends,
For nine years now, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving has been called Giving Tuesday, the day we focus on being grateful for non-profits and the benefit they provide to the community. November 30th is Giving Tuesday this year,
“What is Healing Journeys doing that is worthy of my support?” you might ask. There was no free Cancer as a Turning Point™ conference last year, and there won’t be one next year. That was our signature event that many of you supported for 25 years.
One of the gifts of COVID is that people have become comfortable using Zoom and attending events from the comfort of their homes, on a screen instead of in person. This has challenged our creativity and expanded our reach.
This year we provided four 6-week online book groups, reading “The Story You Need to Tell: Writing to Heal from Trauma, Illness, or Loss” by Sandra Marinella. These were so popular that word of mouth created a waiting list for each group. We anticipate offering more next year.
In September and October, we presented our first two Speaker Series: From Surviving to Thriving free Webinars. There were 254 people from 10 different countries registered for the first one, with Sandra Marinella. A month later, 600 people from 22 different countries registered for the Webinar with Nasha Winters, ND. Dr. Winters shared information from her new book, Mistletoe and the Emerging Future of Integrative Oncology.
The information shared in both of these webinars was of great value to anyone touched by cancer. We are adding them to our permanent resources; both of these webinars were recorded and will be available on our YouTube page soon. We’ll send you an email when they are posted.
We are currently in the process of planning five webinars for next year, so stay tuned to find out who the exciting speakers will be.
In this Thanksgiving season, we are grateful for you. Without your support, we wouldn’t be able to continue providing these services.
On the global day of giving (or before or after), please consider giving to Healing Journeys so that we may continue our mission to support healing, activate hope, and promote thriving. You may make a tax-deductible donation easily and securely here:
