Do you have a story? Ignite your interest in the power of your personal stories. Together we will read The Story You Need to Tell and talk about how our brains are wired with our stories, and how our stories can define, grow, and even transform us. We will explore how to share and write our stories in ways that will lead to renewal, resilience, and well-being—even amid challenging times or any life-altering experience. Based on positive psychology and pioneering research with veterans and cancer patients, this guide was created to help us share, write (optional), and live our best stories.

The Story Circle will be co-facilitated by author Sandra Marinella, and Jan Adrian, Founder and Executive Director of Healing Journeys.
After surviving cancer, writing teacher Sandra Marinella formed the “Story You Need to Tell” Project to help others find and write their narratives. Working with cancer patients, veterans, and writers, Marinella was inspired to tell their stories and how they used writing to move forward. She shares these stories and her own cancer story in The Story You Need to Tell—Writing to Heal from Trauma, Illness, or Loss.
When Sandra offered to facilitate an online book group for Healing Journeys, we did a pilot group before offering it to you. In addition to being an engaging writer, Sandra is a compassionate, organized, and wise facilitator. Reading her book and discussing it with her leadership was both a healing and inspiring experience.
As a survivor of three primary cancers (breast cancer and ocular melonoma) and several recurrences, Jan wanted to focus on healing the whole person instead of just curing the body. She created the free Cancer as a Turning Point, From Surviving To Thriving™ conference to address this need. She is the founder and director of Healing Journeys. She was previously the co-director of the Center for Health Awareness, in San Jose, CA.
