I met with the interventional radiologist who did the cryoablation on the tumor in my lung a year ago. The purpose of this appointment was to evaluate the success of that procedure. The report is awesome. The activity level that is measured in the PET scan has been gradually going down, and was 0 in the last PET scan done on Dec. 17. The ablation was a total success. That tumor is dead.
But I received other disturbing information in this appointment. My oncologist had told me the results of the PET/CT scan indicated that my disease was “stable.” In this most recent appointment I learned that there is a new tumor in my chest, close to the lung, but probably a lymph node, that has been growing. When my oncologist said I was “stable,” he was taking an average. The lung tumor numbers were going down while the chest tumor numbers were going up. The average is stable.
I learned that once a cancer is metastatic, they assume cancer is everywhere and they no longer bother treating individual tumors. It wasn’t relevant to the oncologist that I have a growing tumor so he didn’t bother to tell me. I’m grateful that my cancer is slow growing. This is probably not an emergency, but I do feel a new urgency to be doing more.
This chest tumor gives me a new motivation to treat my cancer more aggressively. I feel inspired to take more seriously the recommendations from Dr. Alschuler. I’m grateful to have already started on that path and am feeling optimistic that it will make a difference.
Jan, I wish you great strength and peace on this healing journey and pray you will have the same success with your chest tumor as you did with your lung tumors. Wishing you a beautiful 2014. Words cannot thank you enough for everything you do for everyone else–may all of that reward you.
I’m so happy to hear that the ablation worked. Time to consider that it’s said, everyone has cancer and our bodies are geared to eliminate them. I will hold the thought for you that without technology, you wouldn’t know about this new cancer — ever — because your body will take care of it before it causes trouble.
That said, I’m reading an interesting book a friend loaned me: Hydrogen Peroxide: Medical Miracle, by William Campbell Douglass, MD. He’s one of the alternative docs i read about decades ago in Burton Goldberg’s book that presented the protocols of nearly two dozen doctors. The notion is that Ho2o oxygenates the blood so cancer can’t survive. I’m still confident using the high-dose vitamin c (which apparently does relatively the same thing), but would check this protocol (Baylor College is where to find out more).
Hugs and much love.
Here’s to a really good year. About time, right?

That is wonderful news Jan…you are such a motivator and inspirational person… have you ever read Of Monkeys and Dragons by Michelle Longo O’Donnell… it changes the way we look at dis-ease and shifts ones beliefs… it’s a whole new paradigm…it is a must read for anyone…nothing but healing thoughts to you and your magnificent body… have a blessed New Year.. peace .. love .. joy… and vibrant health!!
Faboulous news! Your heart is healing your cells. Your radiance is permeating. What a wonderful way to enter 2014. Sending you infinite blessings and love, Bonnie
Laurie said it beautifully..so I will simply second her comments.
Dear Jan, I give thanks for the “0” reading. I am puzzled by the doc’s rules of the game. Just because it is metastatic that doesn’t take away the possibility of successful treatment. The averaging to find “stable” makes no sense to me. I find myself getting energetic about this. I send you that energy – you know how to use it well and for wellness. Let the healing continue!
Dear Jan,
I am constantly amazed at your tenacity and strength. I am never surprised by the “pronouncement” of the western doctors who are locked into their mindsets and unable to break free of that thinking. Having said that, resume your positive plan of action and apply it to your entire self. All of the multitudes who believe in you are sending their positive energies to support you in your journey of health and healing. Trust in your inner voice and move forward as you always do. Much Love, Teena
Many thanks.
Dear Jan,
You are an inspiration. Sending prayers of divine guidance, vitality and more reports of awesome results.
Love, Lynne
I’m at my 10 year anniversary from Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma diagnosis, and am very grateful to be that far away from the initial diagnosis and treatment. I can’t even begin to imagine what you must be feeling, and thinking, to be facing another aggressive form of treatment. I wish you all the best and hope for your continued recovery!!!
