Clothes Swap Gathering — Information

1. A Clothes Swap is a group gathering where everyone brings 10 items of clothes or accessories (cleaned and in good condition) to be "swapped" for someone else's clothes and accessories.
2. The clothes and accessories are collected when each person arrives and put out for display for the group to see, try on, and swap/take.
3. To be fair, bringing 10 items means that you get to take 10 new items. The more people there are participating means more items to choose from.
4. It's like shopping without the enormous price tag. And, everyone leaves with something new that they like.
5. For this benefit clothes swap, each participant is asked to donate $30 to go to Healing Journeys in honor of Jan's 70th Birthday. All monetary donations are tax deductible.
6. Show the Healing Journeys' 6 minute DVD so that everyone can get a sense of the work Healing Journeys does.
7. If there are items left-over after the event, you can donate them to Goodwill, Dress for Success or other non-profit organizations.

1. Invite your friends over for the event and ask them to bring a bottle of wine (white or red) in a brown paper bag and a $30 per person contribution to Healing Journeys.
2. When they arrive put a number on the bag, open the bottle but leave it inside the bag, and have it available for tasting. Separate white and red wines so that participants can taste the whites before the reds. Have a bucket or bowl available to empty out glasses between tastings. Individuals may also choose to rinse out their glasses between tastings.
3. Each participant gets a glass and a sheet to write down the number of the wine and a rating from 1-10 (10 being "outstanding").
4. Serve spaghetti, bread, and salad to fill their bellies while they taste all of the different wines.
5. Show Healing Journeys' 6 minute DVD and share with them a "taste" of the Healing Journeys experience.
6. Collect the wine tasting rating sheets and announce the winning wine of the evening. Oftentimes, you will be surprised with the group's favorite and discover a new wine favorite for yourself. Just a fun note: the most expensive wine is not always the crowd favorite.

1. Invite a musician or musical group that you know into your home to perform a benefit concert.
2. Invite your friends and family. If you would like to make this a public event, Healing Journeys would be willing to post it on Jan's Birthday Celebration page on the Healing Journeys website. Email us at: board@healingjourneys.org with the information.
3. Let them know that this is a "benefit" home concert and ask for a specific contribution or take donations at the door.
4. At intermission show the Healing Journeys' 6 minute DVD so they all understand where their donations are going. You can also share your own personal experience with Healing Journeys and Jan Adrian if you'd like. Remember all monetary donations are tax deductible. The artist or group may also have a CD to sell at intermission.
5. You might want to provide light refreshments or snacks for your guests, or ask them to bring some.
6. It's a celebration so have fun!
