An Inconvenient Tumor
Terri's and Annan's worlds cracked open with the diagnosis of cancer. Facing their inner demons and their own mortality sent them in seemingly different directions- Terri to save herself and Annan to save the planet. "An Inconvenient Tumor" brings Terri and Annan center stage to share their balancing act between well being and living large.
Annan Paterson - Raised in Berkeley during the 1960s and 70s, Annan has been trying to save the world ever since. She has worked in California public education for almost 30 years and has recently become involved in local politics and government in Marin County. She was diagnosed with early stage ovarian cancer in 1989 and wrote her signature solo show, Deep Canyon, to express and share this life-changing experience. Thanks to Healing Journeys and the Cancer as a Turning Point™ conferences, Annan has performed Deep Canyon for thousands of cancer patients, "thrivers," and health professionals across the USA. She is most proud of the wonderful family she co-created with husband Frederick Hansen, and through them she knows that love and faith are the world's best hope. Performing with Terri Tate is a dream come true for Annan, and tons of fun to boot. www.annanpaterson.com
Terri Tate, RN, MS - Thriving through two bouts of oral cancer from which she had a 2% chance of survival has taught Terri Tate lots of lessons in overcoming obstacles with grace and humor. Now she offers us her wisdom, along with a hefty side order of laughs, in programs like Wit and Wisdom from Both Sides of the Bed (for health care providers), and in her wildly successful one woman show, Shopping as a Spiritual Path. Shopping, voted Best of the Fringe at the 2007 San Francisco Fringe Festival, is now available on DVD thanks to a grant from The Lloyd Symington Foundation. An inspirational humorist, keynote speaker and performer, Terri believes that she has been granted this bonus life to spread messages of hope, laughter and loving life "as is." www.territate.com. |

Pam Quillin, brain tumor survivor, is one of the volunteers for this conference. Pam is proud to be an alumni of the very first Healing Journeys' Cancer As a Turning Point conference in 1994. Since then, she’s managed to thrive (most of the time) while dealing with the continuing effects of radiation, chemotherapy, multiple surgeries, and brain injury symptoms similar to those suffered by returning veterans. All this while guiding a stubborn four-year-old into becoming an independent (though still stubborn) young woman. This experience has provided Pam with a keen awareness of what’s truly important, as well as a finely honed foolishness detector, which she uses readily but with great diplomacy (again, most of the time). A firm believer in the mind-body connection and the healing power of laughter, Pam’s known for her quick wit and caring heart.
