Healing Journeys Board of Directors
Jan Adrian, M.S.W., Executive Director
As a seven times breast cancer survivor, Jan wanted to focus on healing the whole person instead of just curing the body. She created the Cancer As a Turning Point, From Surviving To Thriving™ conference to address this need. She is the founder and director of Healing Journeys. She was previously the co-director of the Center for Health Awareness in San Jose, CA.

Lynne Singer, Board President
Lynne found her deep desire to help people leading to a lifetime of volunteer involvement, including educating about the oneness of all life through the Creative Initiative/Beyond War Foundation, hosting international exchange students, creating a drug and alcohol education program at the local high school, and supporting her husband, Jerry, through his journey with prostate cancer. In 2002, after attending and volunteering at a number of Cancer as a Turning Point conferences in the Bay Area, Lynne and Jerry uprooted to Seattle to be closer to family. Lynne chaired the steering committee for the 2004 Seattle conference and joined the Board in June 2004 .

Terri Reasoner, M.S., Board Secretary
Terri came to Healing Journey’s via her mother’s battle with breast cancer and through her own experiences of dealing with a unique neurological disease. Terri has been in the field of adult education for over 15 years and hopes to apply her passion for education, learning and multiple ways of knowing through whole body engagement to transform illness into healing. She is currently a Ph.D. student at the California Institute of Integral Studies focusing her studies on the body’s ability of turning pain into wisdom.
Nancy McKay, M.Div., Immediate Past President
Nancy attended the first Conference in 1994, in Monterey while she was still in treatment with an experimental vaccine for metastatic melanoma. What she learned and felt there supported her hope for a full recovery. She is now cancer free. She told the story of her own journey with cancer at the Sacramento Conference in 1995, just two weeks before the end date of her prognosis. Nancy is a minister in the United Church of Christ, having served a parish for 10 years. Now she provides one-on-one spiritual direction and teaches a laying on of hands and prayer healing process in churches. "Love heals," she says, "and we get to cooperate with the source of love!"

Dennis Driver
Dennis has 30 years of professional experience, currently serving as Vice President of Human Resources at Theravance, a biopharmaceutical company based in South San Francisco. Dennis was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2004. Following treatment and serious personal introspection, he decided to devote himself to helping others who are facing similar challenges.

Elli Hall
Elli Hall has been a public health executive, working for many years at the county and state levels in California and Oregon. In her professional role, she helped to design and administer many programs relating to health care and cancer. In 2003, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and suddenly experienced the entire medical care system and the issue of health and illness from a radically different point of view. She attended the first Seattle conference (in between chemotherapy and radiation) and felt completely in accord with the goals of Healing Journeys. Serving on the Board is an opportunity for her to help others survive and thrive and to stay in touch with gratitude for her own healing journey.

Fran Haynes, M.F.T.
Fran was the organizer and chairperson of the Sacramento team that produced the conference in Sacramento in September, 1995. She joined the Board in January 1996. She is a school counselor at a middle school in Auburn by day and a budding clown/fairy by night.

Ann Lovell
Ann Lovell was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002; she attended the 2003 Cancer as a Turning Point conference in Seattle and felt the power of standing in a room of 900 people who had been touched by cancer. She helped start a cancer support group at the Kitsap Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. The next year the support group attended the conference together and were stirred by the healing energy and information they received. Ann volunteered to help plan the 2006 Northwest Conference and joined the board in 2005. Before retirement, Ann was a professional parks and recreation manager/teacher/consultant. Now she spends volunteer hours for causes that spark her compassion to make the world a better place.

Shariann Tom, Board Member

Shariann Tom
A 4-time Hodgkin’s Lymphoma survivor, Shariann Tom, attended her first Healing Journeys conference in 2001. She was moved by the power of 1000 people in one room sharing a common bond. “It was healing to my heart, in addition to my body, mind and spirit,” she remembers. This experience helped set her on the path of dedicating her energies to aid the healing of others. She is also an entrepreneur, business consultant, executive coach, life coach and author with her companies, Innerworks Solutions and An Unexpected Journey. The latter company is focused on assisting cancer patients and their support team. arrow up
